My internet friend, Lynne Olver, former head librarian for Morristown NJ library and site administrator for www.FoodTimeLine.org passed away on April 15, 2015.
I have been corresponding with Lynne for close to a decade asking questions regarding the history of many, many recipes. She has patiently responded, guiding me in learning to research and assess a myriad of discovered information, and in the process I'd like to believe we became, at a minimum acquaintances, if not friends. She mentored me, as a student of one, in how to find information on recipes published long, long ago. More importantly, she nurtured my growing confidence in assessing recipes and all of the associated information I have been digging up. She continually advised me to rely on the data I was finding and not on the opinions or views published by others, sometimes the same, sometimes differing. Yes, she commented, at times I may be wrong, but I might also be right. By introducing my ideas to those already out there, I will contribute to the discussion, helping further today's understanding of kitchens and recipes of days long ago. I will miss her gentle comments, she left us way too early. May she rest in peace.
